It is designed for young gymnasts with minimal or no previous experience. This is a great introductory class! They will learn various skills such as: forward and backward rolls, handstand & cartwheel, squat-on using the vault, walks and pivot turns on beam, pullover on bars, and strength & conditioning. GYMNASTICS II - This class builds on skills from Gymnastics I. This class is for gymnasts who have previous gymnastics experience. Some of the skills taught are backbends, handstand forward roll, front handsprings on vault, forward mill circle on bars, cartwheel on beam, and strength & conditioning. Registration deadline one week prior to begin date. Parks and Recreation staff will work with the kids on daily drills and fundamentals. Teams will participate in the Central Iowa Recreation League, where youth can practice their skills against nearby area volleyball teams! Practices begin the week of August 19 at Meeker Elementary School Gym. Games begin the week of September 2 and are played in Ames, Gilbert, Jewell, Nevada, Huxley, and or Story City on Tuesday or Thursday evenings. End of season tournament will begin week of October 6.
